Below is the portion of the 10/12/2021 Englewood Council Workshop’s where the Englewood Council discusses Teaneck’s two new Alfred Avenue projects – on the Englewood borders – about which Englewood city government was not informed.
Council Chair, Charles Cobb, introduces the issue and Councilman Wayne Hamer, whose Englewood ward is most affected because it borders Teaneck’s Alfred Avenue section.
Hamer then describes ways in which both new Teaneck Alfred Avenue projects negatively impact contiguous Englewood neighborhoods:
1) the huge new 5-story, 225-unit Alfred Avenue apartment complex; and
2) Teaneck’s Master Plan change to make the remainder of Alfred Avenue the location approved for conditional uses for the full range of state-defined cannabis facilities .

The discussion ends with the Council Chairman charging City Attorney William Bailey and Engineer Frantz Volcy with 1) finding out why Teaneck failed to make official contact with Englewood before approving these projects, 2) exploring ways to mitigate the adverse effects on Englewood neighborhoods of these two projects and 3) determining whether Englewood could/should sue Teaneck to stop either or both of the two projects.
Clearly Teaneck’s failure to inform Englewood’s municipal government is viewed very negatively- and clearly not neighborly!
